Kumbakonam a temple city in south india were the cultural heritage is rich with full of paddy fields.Banana ,Sugarcane are also grown in fertile lands of this region.Here the banana pseudo stems are wasted after harvest,Ecogreenunit&Seva Bharati planned to provide self employment for rural women in this sector by providing the training in banana fibre crafts.The programme was launched in 21st jan 2012.The training will be given for 50 women who will be master trainers in banana fibre crafts,near about 1500 women will be trained and provided self employment in this venture.
