Handi crafts office Nagarkovil[office of the Development Commissioner,ministry of textiles,Govt of india]conducted a skill test for banana fibre craft artisans [women groups]in madurai district,near about 125 women got selected to get ARTISAN CARD,WELFARE SCHEMES through Handi crafts department,the initiative was done by ECOGREENUNIT
Mr.Murugan an Artisan who was involved in making of banana fibre handi crafts was expired due to the fire accident in his home,the death claim Rs.ONE LAKH was handed over to his family at our office coimbatore,we are thankful to Development commissioner HandiCrafts,Govt Of India&ICICI LOMBARD insurance company ltd.
Banana fibre project was launched in assam through NEITCO ,the training for extraction of banana fibre,crafts making was given to master trainers in Jorhat ITI.Through the master trainers the project will be extended among farmers and self help groups in Assam,

Artisan cards for banana craft artisans[500 nos of rural women] was issued by Senior Assit Dirctor Mr.Prabhakaran,Handicrafts Dept,Ministry of Textiles,Govt of india,on 06.11.09 at KGF,Karnataka. Welfare schemes,marketing support will be done for the people who obtained Artisan cards from Handi crafts Dept.
