Tools distribution for Banana fibre craft artisans

Today[16.03.12]there was a programme for tools distribution for artisans who under gone skill up gradation training in banana fibre crafts for the past 4 months .Shri Mani maran &Shri MuthuKumaran Asst General Managers,NABFINS, NABARD participated and explained about the loan schemes.Our most respectful Shri A.DhanaSekaran,Asst Director,DC[Handi Crafts]participated& Distributed the tools for the artisans and explained about the formation of federation.100 artisans participated in this programme.

A machinery for cutting vegitables & curry leaves was innovated by our R&D Wing,particularly this machinery can be used in small scale food processing units& in hotel industry.

There was a crafts fair conducted by Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu,at Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam, at coimbatore from 3rd to 9th august,we show cased our banana fibre crafts which has been made by our rural women groups in tamil nadu.

Skill upgradation training programme for rural women artisans

We have started Skill upgradation training programmes for Rural artisans who are into banana fibre crafts practising in coimbatore rural sector,its a 4 months course for 5 artisan groups. this particular programmes will improve the skill of the artisans in natural fibre sector.The programmes are sponsored by O/o Development Commissioner,Handi Crafts,Govt Of India.

Design Development workshop on Banana fibre

Ecogreenunit organized a Design Development workshop on Banana fibre in coimbatore rural. 30 women artisans participated.New prototype models was developed by Empaneled designer Mrs. Puja singh from delhi came and trained the artisans in banana fibre.The programme was sponsored by O/o Development Commissioner,Handi crafts,New Delhi.its a 15 days training programme .

a training for handspun fibre from banana pesudo stems [which is a waste after harvest of banana] was given to rural women groups in palla palayam village, Coimbatore,the fibre which is extracted by hand gives the fine,pure,silk quality which can be used in handi crafts and textile sector.this quality fibre has got huge demand in global markets.this will be a livly hood activity for the house hold women in rural sector.The programme was sponsored by NABARD.
