Orientation Programme Empowers Farmers and Women in Dharmapuri on 7th June 2026

 







A comprehensive Orientation Programme for farmers and women self-help groups was successfully organized at Mitta Nula Alli Village in Dharmapuri District, Tamil Nadu. The programme aimed to create awareness and provide knowledge on sustainable livelihood opportunities, value-added rural enterprises, and eco-friendly income-generating activities.

The training programme covered a wide range of sectors including Areca Leaf Plate Manufacturing, Banana Fibre Extraction and Product Development, Mat Weaving, Handicrafts Production, Coir Pot Making, Biochar Production, Vetiver Cultivation, Aloe Vera Cultivation, and Microgreens Cultivation. These sectors were carefully selected to promote self-employment, entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, and enhanced rural income.

Around 250 farmers, women entrepreneurs, self-help group members, and rural youth actively participated in the programme. Experts provided detailed insights into the technologies, production methods, market opportunities, value addition techniques, and business prospects associated with each sector.

Special emphasis was given to the utilization of locally available natural resources for generating sustainable income. Participants learned how areca leaf waste can be converted into eco-friendly disposable plates, how banana fibre can be transformed into value-added products, and how coir-based products and handicrafts can create employment opportunities for rural households. Awareness was also created on the benefits of biochar for soil health improvement and carbon sequestration.

The agricultural sessions focused on the commercial cultivation of Vetiver and Aloe Vera, highlighting their medicinal, industrial, and economic importance. Demonstrations on Microgreens Cultivation introduced participants to future food concepts and nutritional farming practices, enabling them to produce healthy foods even in limited spaces.

The programme served as an effective platform for knowledge sharing, skill enhancement, and rural empowerment. Participants expressed keen interest in adopting the technologies and livelihood models introduced during the programme. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly towards sustainable agriculture, women empowerment, entrepreneurship development, and improved socio-economic conditions in the region.

The organizers emphasized their commitment to continuing such awareness and capacity-building programmes to support farmers and women groups in creating sustainable and environmentally responsible livelihood opportunities.

Hands-on Training Programme on Sustainable Livelihood and Agri-Entrepreneurship Conducted at Coimbatore

 



A comprehensive hands-on training programme on Micro Greens Cultivation, Vetiver Cultivation, Aloe Vera Cultivation, and Bee Keeping was successfully organized at Coimbatore on 30th May 2026. The programme was attended by a large number of farmers, rural entrepreneurs, and household women who were eager to explore sustainable income-generating opportunities in the agriculture sector.

The training programme focused on promoting eco-friendly and profitable agricultural practices that can be adopted on a small scale with minimal investment. Participants received practical demonstrations and field-level exposure to various cultivation techniques and value-added opportunities.

The Micro Greens Cultivation session highlighted the growing demand for nutrient-rich microgreens in urban markets. Participants learned seed selection, tray preparation, growing techniques, harvesting methods, and marketing strategies.

The Vetiver Cultivation training emphasized the commercial importance of vetiver grass for its applications in soil conservation, perfumery, handicrafts, and value-added products. Farmers were educated on cultivation practices, maintenance, and income opportunities associated with vetiver farming.

The Aloe Vera Cultivation segment provided detailed guidance on cultivation methods, medicinal and cosmetic applications, harvesting techniques, and market potential. Participants gained valuable insights into establishing aloe vera plantations for long-term income generation.

The Bee Keeping training attracted significant interest as participants learned modern apiculture practices, hive management, honey extraction methods, colony maintenance, and the role of bees in enhancing crop pollination and productivity.

The programme aimed at empowering farmers and household women by providing practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills. Many participants expressed enthusiasm about starting their own ventures in microgreens production, bee keeping, and medicinal plant cultivation.

The organizers emphasized that such training programmes play a vital role in creating self-employment opportunities, improving rural livelihoods, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Certificates were distributed to participants upon successful completion of the training.

The event concluded with an interactive session where participants discussed future business opportunities, market linkages, and value-addition prospects in the agriculture and allied sectors.
