An inspiring Orientation Programme on Sustainable Livelihood Projects was conducted for the students of St. Xavier's College, Thirunelveli on 26th February 2026. The session aimed to introduce young minds to innovative, eco-friendly, and income-generating rural development initiatives.
During the programme, students were given an overview of practical projects such as banana fibre extraction and crafts, vetiver cultivation, aloe vera cultivation, bio-gas units, coir-based products, and other “wealth out of waste” concepts. The orientation highlighted how agricultural by-products and natural resources can be transformed into sustainable enterprises.
The interactive session encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities, community development models, and skill-based training initiatives. Real-life case studies and success stories were shared to motivate students to actively participate in rural innovation and social impact projects.
The programme successfully created awareness among students about sustainable development, self-employment opportunities, and the importance of eco-friendly technologies in building a greener future.
