Awareness Programme for Rural Development Officers
Date: 2nd February 2026
Venue: Vivanta, Meghalaya

On 2nd February 2026, our team had the privilege of presenting our sustainable livelihood and rural enterprise development projects at an Awareness Programme organized for Rural Development Officers under the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS) at Vivanta, Meghalaya.

The session focused on innovative, field-tested models that generate income and promote self-reliance among rural communities. Key projects presented included:

  • Vetiver cultivation and value-added products

  • Aloe vera cultivation and processing

  • Micro-enterprise opportunities in natural resource-based livelihoods

  • Waste-to-wealth concepts and eco-friendly rural industries

  • Bio-gas and sustainable energy solutions

The programme aimed to equip Rural Development Officers with practical knowledge and scalable models that can be implemented through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and community-based institutions across Meghalaya.

The presentation emphasized low-investment, high-return livelihood models suitable for rural households, women-led enterprises, and tribal communities. Interactive discussions highlighted the potential for skill development, value addition, market linkage, and long-term sustainability.

The event concluded with positive feedback and strong interest from participants in adapting these livelihood models to strengthen rural income generation and entrepreneurship in Meghalaya.

This programme marks an important step toward collaborative rural development and sustainable economic empowerment in the region.
